Mosaics of Literature Term 3 2017

PROGRAM for Mosaics of Literature Term 3 2017 (10 weeks)

U3A Dates - Mon 10th July – Fri 12th Sept   Enq: Barb Vines 0402129795

All members welcome to join in our classes at any time. No Need to advise – just turn up and enjoy! We’re a very friendly group and love visitors.

Tues 11th July Barb Vines: Sporting themes in poetry. Bring along any of your own favourites or any original poems to share.

18th July Susan Roberts: ALPHA BETA - C. Mystery presentation. Very intriguing! Come along and find out what it’s all about.

25th July John Strano: The Art Life of Shirley Strano. With comments, handouts and computer photos. John will invite questions during presentation.

Tues 1st August Roo Whitethorn: Need a good laugh? Roo will be presenting a selection of “Grave Humour” – a compilation of gravestone lyrics, epitaphs, jokes and foreign signage. Should be loads of fun!

8th August Marguerite Lawrence: George Orwell – the author and his works.

5th August Barb Vines: Science Fiction – short stories and poems. And just for fun, have a go at writing a sci-fi short story or poem using the following format: 300-400 words; only two characters (any age or gender); set on Earth or Mars in the year 2097. Bring along to share and compare!!

22nd August Margaret Shepherd-Tovey: Play reading (To be advised)

29th August Roo Whitethorn: Spooky Poems. Again, any original contributions welcome.

Tues 5th Sept Susanne Dines: Children’s literature – “Show and tell”. Looking at some of the old favourites plus sentimental contributions from your own childhood (with analysis and discussion).

12th Sept (last day term 3) Joint presentation: Short Story Analysis.
