Course Title: Alfred the Great to William the Conqueror

Course content:

The struggle by Alfred the Great, continued by his son & daughter to repel invading Vikings.

How their success led to the unification of England.

Prominent Viking leaders including William the Conqueror’s ancestors in Normandy.

William’s invasion of England.

Harold II’s efforts to repel Harald Hardrada’s Viking army before confronting William the Conqueror at the battle of Hastings.

The traumatic aftermath of William’s invasion & why the Domesday Book was commissioned.
